I MADE IT!!!

YAHOO!!!!
I made it!
I'm done!
I finished my biking yesterday with a 29 mile bike and then I Swam the other mile last night and then today I only had to run 5.2 miles. SO NOW I AM DONE!! It feels great and I am really glad that I did it. It made me realize that I can be working a little harder at the gym and be OK. At least until I reach my goal weight and then I can go for an easy hour and maintain.

So to recap. I Swam 2.4 miles, Ran 26.2 miles, and Biked 112 miles in 6 days and it took me a total of 16.5 hours.

I am so excited to see what the weight loss for everyone competing in the BL competition is this week. I bet we have some great numbers!

Day 4 and 5

Well after my last post I then swam 88 laps in the pool that is 1.2 miles and now am halfway done with the swimming.

So then on day 4 it was much harder to get out of bed. I've had to force myself to the gym. Once I've been moving for a little while I feel better. But it is so hard to get out of bed.
Today was hard to get moving too but I had a light at the end of the tunnel because I am almost done. I keep telling myself only 2 more days. My poor family and house. My family has had some pretty lame dinners and my children are at the gym for 2 hrs at a time. And as soon as Big J gets home I have to leave to go run/walk/swim. But it almost over.

Today I finished my biking! I was only going to do 20 out of the 29 left but after 20 I thought. I can do 9 more and just be done with this part! So I did. And I'll tell you I actually feel like I have more energy now that the biking is done. Just knowing that I don't have to bike anymore made me feel so much better. After tonight when I run to the pool and finish my swimming I will only have a few miles left to run on Friday and I will be done! I am so excited!

Total I have run 19.5 miles, Biked 112 miles, and swam 1.2 miles.

My body however is freaking out because of all the calories I have been burning and so its holding on to everything. Hopefully after today I will start to see some weight loss. But It has to come off eventually so even if I don't have a big number this week. Watch out next week!

Day 2 and 3

Well its Day 2 of the Iron Week and Day 3 of the Biggest Loser. I think that all this biking is going to kill me. Saturday I did my 20 mile bike ride in 76 mins and today it only took me 66 mins. So I improved there and actually shave about 2 mins off my run as well. I had to go slower with the 2nd part of my run because I split it in 2. I ran 2 and then biked 20 and then ran 2. So maybe tomorrow I will just run 4 and then bike 20 and not have to worry about my jello legs having to run after.

I usually work out for an hour a day on normal weeks and in that time I can burn usually 700 cal if I am really going. But Sat and Sun I have been at the gym for 2 hrs and I have run a total of 8 miles and biked 40 miles. CRAZY!!! I have burned at least 1300 calories per workout. I know that's insane. I've only ever done that one other time. (Back when I was skinnier and could run 5 miles at a time)

Some of you might not think that is too insane but it is for me since in the last couple weeks I have only burned about 600 per workout. I'm kind of liking it though. I feel like I'm gonna lose this weight in no time. And after I complete the Iron Week I know that I will be happy that I completed it. I'm gonna try and get it done in a total of 24 hrs or less. (which is what the real Iron Man is done in) I don't know how they can do that. I will probably be able to do it in 24 hrs but that's with sleeping at night and being able to eat all my meals. Those athletes that do it in 24 hrs are insanely fit!

The diet is going good. I haven't been starving and I have made myself a menu for 2 weeks and plan to make the other 6 weeks worth of menus soon. probably after this Iron Week is over. So far I've been too busy to be hungry so that is good.

Journal Jars

Last week I completed our Journal Jars. I wanted to do these so that we could get into the habit of writing in our Journals and also for the kids to be able to practice their writing and spelling skills. We have written in them 4 days in a row now and it has been fun.
The kids for the most part enjoy doing it. I told Little D when he was complaining one time that he was doing it so that his kids would have something to read about his life and things that he felt and thought. So now every time he makes a mistake he says "great now my kids will see this!" And get upset. I told him that it was OK because they might read it when they are 7 and say hey dad wrote just like me. He is the one that is having a hard time. He hates writing because he is not very good at it. I told him that he just needs practice. Hopefully he will be writing much better by the time 2nd grade starts.
Little A thinks its great and wants to try and write every word all by herself. She does pretty good but I end up writing most of what she tells me to write. Then I have them draw a picture to illustrate their entry.
I have also been making Big J do it too. He only does his on Sunday's but at least its better than nothing. He really doesn't have time to do it more.

Getting Ready

Well I am going to be participating in what we are calling an Iron Week. What is that you ask? Well, you have all heard of the Iron Man right? The race where they have to run 26.2 miles and swim 2.4 miles and bike 112 miles all in 24 hours. Ya well I'm not doing that. I am doing it in a week.

There is a big group of us that are going to try and tackle this race in a week. 24 hours just seems crazy. A week seems Do-able, hard but Do-able. I am not a biker or swimmer, or a runner for that matter but I am going to try my hardest even if I have to spend 4 hrs a day in the gym. I will complete it. The biking is the only one that worries me at all. I don't even have a bike so mine will all have to be done at the gym.

At the same time I am starting a Biggest Loser competition. So I think that the Iron Week is a great way to start my weight loss. The weight comp is going to be for 8 weeks and I hope to lose 20 lbs. Anymore than that is icing on the cake.

Wish me luck!
